Swim lessons that build confidence, safety, and real progress.

Small-group and private swim lessons for kids, with a strong focus on water safety, proper placement, and steady skill development.

This year is going to be bigger and better than ever. I’m Tonya Whitaker, owner of Swim Spectacular. Although I won’t be teaching classes personally this year, I’m excited to share that my daughter Bella will be teaching several group sessions along with private lessons.

Meet Your Instructor

Bella is wrapping up her junior year at the University of Oklahoma and has been a lifeguard for the last 6 years for both the City of Arlington and OU.

She has certifications in CPR/AED, lifeguarding, Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), and Water Safety Instruction (WSI), which is specifically focused on teaching various levels of swim lessons.

  • 6 years of lifeguard experience
  • CPR/AED certified
  • Lifeguard certified
  • Lifeguard Instructor (LGI)
  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

What Level Is My Child?

Choosing the right class is important. If you are unsure which level is best for your child, please contact us before registering. Proper placement helps your child learn safely and helps the whole class run smoothly.

Turtles

Entering skill level: No swimming ability and fearful.

If your child is thinking, “Oh no, I’ll let you go first,” this is probably the right class.

Purpose: Teach safety first, then focus on the basics of swimming.

Objective: Develop a healthy fear of the water by putting face in the water, learning to float, and learning basic strokes to swim to the edge of the pool.

Age requirement: Must be age 3½ by January 1, 2026

Price: $200 for first student / $180 for siblings

Guppies

Entering skill level: No swimming ability, but more eager and less fearful.

If your child is thinking, “Pick me, pick me, I want to go first,” this is likely the right class.

The main difference between Guppies and Turtles is the amount of fear a child has about being in the water and learning to swim.

Objective: Same as Turtles.

Age requirement: Must be age 3½ by January 1, 2026

Price: $200 for first student / $180 for siblings

Koi

Entering skill level: Can move through the water alone using any stroke for a short distance and stays in the shallow end.

Koi students must be able to swim at least 3 feet.

Purpose: Equal focus on teaching safety and swimming basics.

  • Improve swim skills
  • Front stroke
  • Elementary back stroke
  • Floating
  • Treading water
  • Jump off side or diving board
  • Swim to ladder or steps

Ages: 4–10

Price: $200 for first student / $180 for siblings

Otters

These two classes have been combined into one so instruction can be more tailored to each child.

Entering skill level: Must be able to swim across the shallow end of the pool.

If your child was a Koi last year but is not yet able to swim the shallow end, Koi will be the better fit.

  • Front stroke
  • Elementary back stroke
  • Back stroke
  • Treading water
  • Survival floating
  • Diving
  • Intermediate lifesaving skills

Ages: 4–12

Price: $200 for first student / $180 for siblings

Private Lessons

Private lessons are specifically designed to focus and adapt to the individuals ability and goals for swimming. I have experience working with children who are 3 ½ up to adults 75+. I also have worked with children who have disabilities, so if that is what you’re looking for, send me an email and we can discuss options. Private swim lessons are the fastest way to achieve your swimming goals, whether you are overcoming a fear of the water, refining advanced strokes, or looking for a safe, comfortable way to learn at your own pace.

Age requirement: Must be age 3½ by January 1, 2026

Price: $50 per 30-minute class
Semi-private (two individuals in one 30-minute block) are $75.

Depending on work schedules, pool availability, and pool temperatures, we may be able to offer private lessons this year beginning as early as May 19.

Please text, call, or email for more information about private lesson availability.

2026 Group Class Schedule

Each session is four days a week for two weeks. Fridays are generally reserved for weather makeup days only, not for days you’re unable to attend.

Session 1

Monday, June 1 – Thursday, June 11

Makeup days: Friday, June 5 and Friday, June 12

Session 2

Monday, June 15 – Thursday, June 25

Makeup days: Friday, June 19 and Friday, June 26

It is very likely we will be adding one or two additional sessions in July after these two sessions fill up.

Class sizes are limited and are on a first come, first serve basis.

Registration & Payments

Registration is limited to a certain number of students per class and session.

If the class you want has filled up, please email and let us know. If demand is heavier in one level than another, the schedule may be adjusted to better accommodate the need.

Registration is not complete until payment is received.

When you submit your registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email with payment links for Zelle or PayPal. Email or text if you prefer paying with check or cash.

If you have multiple students, please register them individually. You are welcome to pay for all students at one time.

Please Register for the Correct Class

If the class your child needs is full, please do not sign them up for a different class.

If you are not sure which class your child should be in, please contact us so we can discuss it. A child in the wrong class negatively impacts everyone in the class.

It’s much easier to find the right solution at the time of registration than it is on the first day of class.
